I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has provided therapy to numerous individuals. Over the years, therapeutic relationships have taught me that emotional healing and positive change can happen. The science is clear, healing is good for the mind and body. While science provides the tools for healing it is the linking of science and compassion that promotes healing. I am committed to taking the journey of healing with you.
I empower and teach individuals to find within themselves the strengths they possess to heal from painful life experiences and memories, and to face life's most difficult challenges.
Using the most current research and evidence-based practice methods and treatment, I work with children, adolescents, adults, seniors and groups to facilitate the goals of restored mental health and healthy mental health maintenance. Easing suffering and emotional pain, and helping clients to reach their treatment goals, is foremost when I work with clients.
I am a counselor because there is nothing more meaningful in life than to connect with another human being in an effort to help heal the mind and spirit of another, and to help another find peace. Life experiences and my work as a counselor have taught me that peace brings about healing and healing brings about peace. A quote from the Dalai Lama sums it up beautifully. He says, "Peace does not mean an absence of conflicts; differences will always be there. Peace means solving these differences through peaceful means; through dialogue, education, knowledge, and through humane ways."
I am a MSW Supervisee in Social Work. I joined Clinical Counseling and Consulting of Virginia in July of 2023. I received my MSW with a clinical concentration from VCU and have experience working with a range of clients in different settings from crisis mental health care in a hospital setting to working with clients on a long-term basis suffering from traumatic brain injuries, anxiety, depression, and other serious mental illness.
My primary modality is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, but I utilize a number of diverse theoretical frameworks when working with clients to find the approach that works best for them.
Together we will work to identify and build upon your strengths, develop effective coping skills, and get you to a place where your mental health is working for you, not against you.
The fact that you are reading this now is proof that you are taking the first steps on the road to a better life. Each life has depth and diversity of experience, and we all do our best to strive forward and tackle life’s challenges. Therapy offers an effective means to deal with life’s stressors and conquer these challenges in healthy and supported ways. You do not have to go it alone. It would be my honor to share a safe space with you to work through whatever issues may be of concern to you, provide you with tools that you can draw on in your daily life, and support you on your journey to your goals.
